The 2010 “AMCOR KIWI-LRK TRAYS KIWIFRUIT CUP DAY” held on Saturday 26th June at Racing Tauranga saw not only a day of exciting winter gallops racing but also marked the completion of a major project at the club. After almost two years in the making, the new “TOKYO LOUNGE” hosted raceday sponsors & invited guests for the clubs premier winter meeting. Situated atop the Members Grand Stand, directly opposite the Winning Post, the “TOKYO LOUNGE” provides spectacular views of the track through floor to ceiling glass while off course meetings & replays can be enjoyed on banks of plasma TVs.
In addition to the lounge, the club has also built a large north facing deck which runs behind the “TOKYO LOUNGE” connecting all three lounges at the top of the Members Grand Stand. This will provide guests with the opportunity to enjoy cocktails in the afternoon sun or a quiet place to study their form guides in between races. TRAC Marketing & Sponsorship Manager Don Paterson says the “TOKYO LOUNGE” provides businesses with the opportunity to enhance relationships with their valued customers by hosting them in a top quality environment unique to racing. “No other sporting event in Tauranga offers businesses the opportunity to entertain their clients for up to six hours in a venue like the Tokyo Lounge, while receiving the marketing exposure that race sponsorship delivers” says Don.
The “TOKYO LOUNGE” combined with the new deck will also provide Tauranga with a fabulous new venue for Weddings & Corporate Functions outside of racedays. As a Wedding Venue, there will be a fully landscaped garden area directly in front of the deck with a connecting stairway. The garden area will be ideally suited for the service itself with specially designed locations for the photographs included. Following the service, guests simply walk up the stairway to the deck & “TOKYO LOUNGE” for the reception with room for 140 people in a banquet setting. For Corporate Functions & Conferences, the “TOKYO LOUNGE” can easily accommodate 180 attendees ‘theatre style’ with the deck utilized as the ‘break out area’ and adjoining lounges used for lunch, etc if necessary.
